Why the DataCon

The data is our Event Of The Year.Its a space for those interested in developping Ugandan football data to meet and talk about the journey so far and the way forward.
The convenor, www.ugandafootball.com brings together stakeholders to have that conversation and reflection of the just ended season.

What To Expect

At the event, we recognise our efforts and talk about the journey ahead, covering a range of selected topics.
We assembling a team of formidable people to speak onsite and online about Uganda football data.

A wide range of topics shall be discussed such as:

1. The role of data in Ugandan football.
2. How lack of data hurts football.
3. The pain of finding Uganda football data.
4. Bringing data closer to fans.
5. Creating a football data strategy.
6. Data economy in the Football industry.

8. Data led scouting.
9. Experiences and stories from other countries (South Africa).
10. Data awards to recognise those managing the data

These have been introduced this year and are designed to recognise people behind the data. This year, we shall have 3 categories:-
Data Contributor (Certificates), Data Champion (Certificates), Predict and Win (Cash Prizes)

We call upon corporates and individuals to partner with us. Theres an opportunity for 10 partners, each paying 1M UGX. Write to us on info@ugandafootball.com if interested.
For organisations the would like to be regarded as sponsors, three ways have been made possible:

1. Gold: One sponsor, at UGX 5M
2. Silver: Two sponsors, at UGX 3M Each
3. Bronze: Ten Sponsors, at UGX 1M Each

Sponsor A Delegate

We have delegates who desire to attend this event but many not afford. You are encouraged to pay and donate your spot to a delegate. Do let our treasurer know, including if you wish to be mentioned for your generosity.
More importantly, we encourage league and tournament administrators to delegate members from their technical desk to come and learn how data should be managed. Thats why we have a "delegate model" when deciding spots in case we expect to be over subscribed.

DataCon Student Opportunity

We have created a unique opportunity to help students take part. Because they are the future of this.
A student can win a free ticket through the following process:

1. Express your interest using the same Google form above
2. Submit a 100 word essay about how lack of data hurts the game
3. Essays with the most insightful thoughts and obsevations will be chosen
4. Successful entrants will be given invitations during the Ugandan Football Data week
5. Terms & Conditions: If we receive very many applications, the following rules of fair play will be applied:
   • First come first served
   • One winner per University
   • Preference shall be given to students of statistics or computing or management
   • If no reply to invitation in 24 hours, the opportunity is passed on to the next best
   • If invitation is not honored, there will be no future consideration

Data Week

The week of the DataCon is known as the Uganda Football Data Week, a period we use to sensitize the public more about the usefulness of data. This year, the data week shall run from Monday 20th Jul 2026 to Satuday 25th Jul 2026
